Description
On some stages, Mario can pair up with his dinosaur buddy Yoshi and use his tongue to grab items and spit them back at enemies. Players can also have fun with new items such as a drill that lets our hero tunnel through solid rock.
Mario collects stars as he travels from galaxy to galaxy. Every level is new, but the game retains the charm, sense of wonder and beauty in line with Marios history. Mario works his way through the various levels, sometimes upside-down, sometimes floating from place to place.
On some stages, Mario can find an egg, smash it open and hop onto the back of Yoshi. Yoshi can use his tongue to grab items and shoot them back at enemies, or to snag attach points and swing across chasms.
Yoshi has an interesting diet. When he eats a Dash Pepper, he gets so hot and frenzied he can run up steep inclines and vertical walls. When he eats a Blimp Fruit, he inflates like a balloon and floats to new heights.
New power-ups include a drill that Mario uses to tunnel through the planets surface all the way to the other side of a planet.
Skilled players will want to collect new Comet Metals, which will unlock harder levels with even more challenges.

Comments about Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii):
If for some reason you didn't enjoy the first Super Mario Galaxy - have a good hard think about yourself - and give this one a miss. Although fun filled and full of interesting and creative level designs and gameplay, the classic style family fun that has followed Nintendo's iconic plumber from console to console still donminates the overall experience. As a result, it plays and feels the same as any other Mario game, especially the previous Super Mario Galaxy.
If you haven't played the original, Super Mario Galaxy 2 follows the pretty standard Mario formula - Princess Peach is missing and Mario must rescue her - so you don't have to worry about having missed anything from the previous title. It really is a spectacularly fun and complete game, well worth the money. If you own a Wii you should pick up a copy, it's worth owning at least one of the Galaxy games.

Comments about Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii):
Bought for 7yr old who has played this game non stop. He does get very frustrated at certain points but we teach him about learning to control his emotions at times. I can't play as too unco-ordinated :-) Other family members have also enjoyed this game.

Santa gave this to me for Christmas and I love it.
I would recommend it to my friends.
This is different to New Super Mario bros.
I am moving steadily through the levels and finding it interesting and challenging.
This is a great game for my collection and I will keep it and not trade in.

Comments about Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii):
For those of you who have played Mario Galaxy (the first one) this game is just more of the same, except bigger and better in (almost) every way. I say almost because they have changed the map overview system to one more like the original mario brothers. You know the one where the levels are connected by dot points. I don't really like this. I much preferred the charm and layout of the first galaxy system for levels. Plus your companion in Galaxy 2 is a giant purple blob - boring!
Anyway, onto the gameplay. Shock! Princess Peach has been kidnapped again. If I was mario I'd have given up after the 10th time but he certainly is persistent. I hope the cake is worth it. Again, collect stars, journey to centre of galaxy, save princess, jump/spin into a bunch of things is the premise here. This is pretty much Galaxy 1 but more. So far I'm about 50 stars in and enjoying it. There are a few new outfits as well, the cloud suit that lets you spin to put a fluffy cloud for you to stand on and the "digging-top". Spin to burrow through the core of a planet and pop up on the other side. In classic nintendo style they walk you through the initial stages on the new power then give you a boss to test out your new skills on.
All in all this game is fun. It doesn't quite have the originality of the first and really feels like Mario Galaxy 1.5 but it is still definitely worth the purchase.

Comments about Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii):
Easy to use if you've played the first one. But if not, then the DVD is very helpful in describing how to control Mario.
