Description

Disaster movie maven Roland Emmerich (INDEPENDENCE DAY, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW) crafts this apocalyptic sci-fi thriller following an academic researcher who opens a portal into a parallel universe, making contact with his double in an effort to prevent the catastrophic prophecies of the ancient Mayan calendar from coming to pass. According to the Mayan calendar, the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012. When a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) uses his knowledge of the ancient prophecies to ensure that the human race is not completely wiped out. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton, and Oliver Platt round out the cast of this end-of-the-world thriller co-scripted by the director and his 10,000 B.C. writer/composer, Harald Kloser.

      Comments about 2012:

One of the best disaster movies for a while. The plot of the movie even has similar events happening in the real world. Could this be an omen about what is to come???? This movie has awesome special effects that will blow your mind. The story line is very believable unlike some other movies in this genre. A great dvd to add to your collection.

      Comments about 2012:

I was looking forward to watchin this films. I do believe in alot of the global warming issues, and how we are mearly the lease holders of this planet not the owners. We must treat it with respect and leave it has we found it. ANyhow we are not. So all these films bout polar ice caps and tsuamis and such im my opinion are always possible. however its how they are portrayed to us that makes us either join in the view or laugh at it. 2012 is one where by u want to believe them but its laughable. I believe in the basics behind the film but not the way it was portrayed. Quite childish and unrealistic. I am glad i watched it, and no one should judge it until the have watched it, but i personally was not really loving it.

        Comments about 2012:

Oh no...another disaster movie...but WOW what amazing special effects. Who could have thought that the impending 'end of the world' could be so entertaining. This film will have you hooked from start to finish...ok so we've had 'The Day After Tomorrow', 'Deep Impact' and even 'The Poseidon Adventure', but when it comes to bringing the nightmare of a worldwide disaster to life, then 2012 does it spectacularly!
