Description
The eighth album has taken a slightly wearier turn with an eerie documentation of depression and the “death of common decency”. Most of the CD’s tracks were recorded on a four track machine, which nowadays gives an almost cold edge to each song. The album holds as much beauty in the lyrics as it does the sadness within the sadder sounds from the guitar and piano. It’s not all doom-and-gloom for Everett though, and the album carries with it a hope that there is indeed something better to look forward to.

This is one of the greatest Eels album, in my opinion the best since 2000 "Daisies of the galaxy", a step forward from Hombre Lobo.

Comments about EELS - End Times:
i didnt expect this to be more beautiful than last album, you can listen when you're stressed and want to go out with your car away from the city, you can listen to his voice and his guitar make some sweet noise...its a clear sound, simple but he speak with the emotions

Comments about EELS - End Times:
A more heart-felt sombre collection, definitely downbeat and one for reflection. Mr E's songwriting talents is the thing that grabs the listener. Although not as upbeat or instant as hombre lobo, more of a reflective stripped down affair, but this in-turn gives the listener a better chance to appreciate the vocal style which suites a more sombre approach.
A versatile talented artist very underrated..

Comments about EELS - End Times:
E has been churning out great albums for over a decade Having released the relatively upbeat (for him) Hombre Lobo last year, End Times follows hot on the heels. However, this is a concept album built around the breakdown of his marriage and projecting desolation, loss and despair into the future. The concept sounds dull and unremitting- it isn't...the subject matter is dealt with in the usual sensitive, subtle, intelligent way Eels fans have become used to. I would also highly recommend E's book "Things the Grandchildren should know"- probably the best rock bio I've read.
